This is a very interesting article in the BBC.

What does make a good teacher? Here is an extract of their article

So, for Professor Broadfoot, the key ingredients of good teaching included: creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and fairness in the classroom, providing opportunities for “active learning” and humour to encourage pupil engagement, making learning interesting, and explaining things clearly.

So what does a teacher need?

  • passion & enthusiasm
  • imagination
  • the ability to communication
  • flexibility and adaptability
  • empathy and the ability to relate while maintaining professional distance
  • good subject knowledge
  • the ability to maintain control without crushing independence
  • the ability to plan (with the flexibility to adapt and change)
  • I have to add in the ability to use and integrate ICT into daily activities

What else do we need? What is missing from the list and the article?
