High speed networks – NEN National Education Network

I am fortunate that my school is connected to the national research network. KAREN, the Kiwi Advanced Research and Education Network – http://www.karen.net.nz/home/ has become available to schools to connect to, and we were one of the first schools to connect to it. This is forming the start of NEN the national Education Network. Its fair to say that this has made a difference to how we use various tools.

Recently we were asked to participate in some feedback on the impacts of this step. Core-Ed on behalf of Reannz conduct the research – here are the video feedback that I and several other staff made, plus the other feedback from schools like Pt England and Correspondence school as well – http://www.core-ed.net/karen/index.html

The NEN has made such a difference to Pt England School. We have had so much fun with it since it was enabled. Sad in a way to think that this is not comonplace in our schools.

    Hello,

We should ask us questions about the social networks; not only in relation to the uses and the audience; but rather on their utility, interest and applications in
education. Thus we could make use of grids or criteria of analysisfor this evaluation.

For example, some tests in this direction:

Social Networks in Education Evaluation WorkSheet
Evaluation Criteria for Educational Social Networking
