Lego Robotics Resources

I am preparing some Learning resources for my students and staff to introduce them to the Lego NXT robots. One of the key focuses of this course is problem solving and the students and staff developing solutions to the problems.

The first three resources are:

  • Activity One – 50cm and No More – Developing precise control over the robots movements.
  • Activity Two – There and back again – Moving atleast 50cm and then turning and returning to starting position
  • Activity Three – Brace, Brace, Brace – Using the ultrasonic Sensor and loops to avoid collisions

Comments, feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.

We’ve been using the NXT Robots this year. Over the years I’ve recieved 4 Lego grants updating with new materials as we move along. This past grant provided the NXT kits and we also bought the Robotics Engineering Curriculum. The curriculum, though pricey, has really raised the bar. The kids learn so much that they may not have discovered on their own. I highly recommend it.

Great resources! Last year I had my students follow a straight line – really they started off with an edge follower program and then the built up to a line following program with loops etc

    cheers Wes
