IKEA produces a very good design tool that is free to use (its selling there products after all). This is a good tool for the Visual and Kineasthetic learners.
Its a 17MB download that allows you to design kitchens, workspaces and bedrooms. Essentially here is what you do:

I am currently exploring a Vista powered tablet. The product is small light weight and comfortable, great battery life and a generally nice feel to it. Thats the laptop  – generally nice
