New Rubric – Storyboard for video

I have been working on a new rubric for storyboards for production of a video.

My students are developing an advertisement and part of the production process is the development of a suitable storyboard or plan which provides structure and flow to the final product.

The storyboard must have a start, middle and end. They have to consider timing, sequence, structure, purpose, audience, balance, alignment, transitions, images, audio etc.

storyboard rubric

Level Criteria

Not achieved

Does not reach the minimum level

Acceptable

The storyboard contains some detail.A script is provided.(Script has a start, middle and finish)

Most scenes have some detail and some action is described.

There is information about some of the following:

  • Transitions between scenes
  • Camera action, angles and shots
  • Lighting effects
  • Sound effects
  • Timing are approximate

Sketches are included and have some accuracy.

The Storyboard is understandable and has some flow

Good

The storyboard is mostly accurate or detailed.A suitable script is provided (Script has a start, middle and finish)

Most scenes are detailed and the action is described.

There is detailed information about most of the following:

  • Transitions between scenes
  • Camera action, angles and shots
  • Lighting effects
  • Sound effects
  • Timing are relatively accurate compared to script

Sketches are reasonable accurate

It is relatively easy for a third party to understand the shot and flow of the advertisement

Excellent

The storyboard is accurate and detailed.A suitable and appropriate script is provided (Script has a start, middle and finish).

Scenes are detailed and the action is accurately described.

There is Consistent detailed information about:

  • Transitions between scenes
  • Camera action, angles and shots
  • Lighting effects
  • Sound effects
  • Timing is accurate and consistent with the script and transitions

Sketches are consistently accurate and show care and attention to detail.

It is easy for a third party to understand the shot and flow of the advertisement

Comments and suggestions are always welcomed.

Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Resources

As part of preparing for a series of presentations at various conferences this year, I have developed six quick sheets for Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy. These resources outline the different taxonomic levels and provide the Digital Taxonomy Verbs with some (this is not exhaustive) possibilities for classroom use.

For the complete Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy go to the Educational Origami Wiki @ http://edorigami.wikispaces.com

Here are the quick sheets:

As always I would appreciate comments, feedback and suggestions.

Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy – Question rubric

This is a rubric for developing questions for use in interviews. The emphasis is on questions that are beyond the scope of normal secondary research, that are open and probing. These questions will provide the interviewer with insight and clarity. These can be interviews conducted using electronic mediums like:

  • email
  • Audio conferencing (Phone conversations, skype etc)
  • Video conferencing (Video conferencing kits like life size or polycom, skype etc)
  • Online collaboration tools (elluminate etc)
  • Threaded discussions

or for face to face interviews.

The rubric is on the Edorigami wiki at http://edorigami.wikispaces.com/file/view/question+rubric.pdf

Blooms Digital Taxonomy – Activity Analysis Tool v2

I have updated and modified the Activity analysis tool for Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy.

This tools analyses the taxonomic level of the learning activity, task or unit. The process is essentially similar to the Bloom’s Assessment Analysis Tool. This tool allows you to look at a simple overview of the activity or unit and provides a simple perspective on task construction. The optional extension of the tool requires you to enter the estimated time spent on each task element and then to calculate a percentage of total time spent on each taxonomic level.

Bloom’s Assessment Tool v2

Thanks for the feedback and comments about the assessment tool for Bloom’s Digital taxonomy.

I have revised the tool and included an instruction sheet for the analysis. The tool is prepared under the creative commons share and share-alike licience. Here is the pdf file of the assessment sheet.

As usual comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Resources for Boolean Searches

I am preparing for a presentation and I need to find some resources on Searching and within searching Boolean Searching.

There are some great tools out there that are worth sharing:

Boolify is a search site using the google Engine.

Simple drag and drop the jigsaw elements to construct the search and its “and” “or” “Not” criteria.

The search results are shown underneath the  working pane. A good simple tool.

Kathy Schrock’s The Boolean machine is an interactive explanation of Boolean search logic. Simple straight forward and easy to follow:

The starter sheets are resources I have developed for Google advanced searches and Boolean searches.

A rubric for Using search engines to find accurate information is available here – http://edorigami.wikispaces.com/Rubrics+-+Bloom%27s+Digital+Taxonomy

Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy update

The last version of Bloom’s Digital taxonomy I posted had an error in the pdf file which stopped at page 61. I have rerendered the original manuscript and this one reads right through

Announcing – Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy version 3.0

I have recently updated Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy to version 3.0. This version includes starter sheets and refreshed rubrics. It is probably still a little ragged in places so I would appreciate any suggestions and corrections.

As usual the Bloom’s digital taxonomy is produced under a creative commons licience. I might see if a publisher is interested in printing later.

New Rubric – collaboration using online word processing tools

This is a new rubric which examines collaboration using online word processing tools like Adobe’s Buzzword, Google Documents or Zoho Documents.

The two aspects examined here are the technical use of the tool and the collaborative aspect of sharing and co-operation.The rubric is at the Applying level of Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy

As always I would appreciate comments and feedback.

Update rubric – collaboration using e-tools

This is an update on the collaboration rubric. This rubric look at three aspects of an electronic collaboration session. The first is preparation, then use of collaboration features and finally communication features.
