Standards – “presume good intent” or….

Claire replied to my last post on standards and I commented. As I wrote the comment I felt this is possibly more that just a reply, so I have posted it here. Thanks Claire
There is a sign on a wall of an office near my classroom that says “Presume good intent“. I believe that intention [...]

Standards

I don’t have a problem with standards and I suspect most of us don’t have a problem with standards either. I use standards all the time whether they are standards of behaviour, standards of dress or in fact educational standards.
Educational standards provide a platform for equity, a target to work to and beyond, a framework [...]

Software for Schools Deal

In my last post about the Software for schools package I recieved a reply from Paul, who works at the Ministry. I have worked with Paul in the past and I believe the question he asked was worth more than just a threaded reply

“Good thoughts Andrew. [...]

More on the Software deal

I have been mulling over the software deal for schools now for a couple of days and it is raising more concerns.

Well if you go to the Ministry of education’s website there are a couple of interesting pages that [...]

Copyright

A friend in the UK emailed this article to me in disbelief.
New Zealand gets INSANE copyright law
This from Computerworld in the US of A – the choicest quotes
“A law was recently passed in New Zealand that has created what many consider to be the world’s harshest copyright enforcement law. This insanity, found in [...]

Powerful Learning Practice

I have been catching up on my reading from the Nepal Adventure. On the inside of the front cover of Interface is an advertisement for PLP or Powerful Learning Practice Network available for New Zealand Schools. PLP is the product of two brilliant ICT innovators and education leaders from the US, Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach and Will [...]
